Dec 24, 2017 Was able to get it to work by downloading the binary pacman package & manually installing all its contents to Git/MSYS environment. Then doing the steps above (Note: /usr/share/pacman/keyrings had to be copied from another MSYS2 environment):Initialize keyring: $ pacman-key -init. Reload the default keys from /usr/share/pacman/keyrings: $ pacman-key -populate.

(Need 300 more bytes) An example of what could 'other work' be would be welcome. As one forum member remarked, going off to do some house-cleaning doesn't help;P.
